The Central Board of Secondary Education has changed the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 for the academic session 2024– 2025, and as far as CBSE has stated, the syllabus has been reduced due to COVID-19.

CBSE has reduced about 30 percent in all subjects from class 9 to 12 for the academic session 2024–2025. Due to this Covid-19 Pandemic, the committee of the Board and the Hon’ble Supreme Court have also approved the deduction of this CBSE syllabus. The objective of the CBSE Syllabus/Curriculum

Changes on CBSE Class 12 Syllabus 2024–2025

Due to the new education policy and the pandemic spread worldwide, CBSE decided to change the exam pattern of classes 10 and 12 of the board. This change will encourage creative and analytical thinking in children.

CBSE has added a new elective subject for the new academic session from 2020 – 2021 to 2023, while the following topics have not been changed:

  • Mathematics
  • Accountancy
  • History
  • Geography
  • Economics
  • Business Studies
  • English Core

Class 12 Biology – [Syllabus Changes]

A new term “Sacred Groves” has been added in Chapter – 15.

A new supplementary book has been prescribed; the book is titled ‘Biology Supplementary Material’.

Class 12 Chemistry – [Syllabus Changes]

Theory

  • A new chapter added ‘Solid state’ in Unit – 1, and the sequence of units is also changed.
  • The name of Unit – 13 ‘Organic compounds’ containing ‘nitrogen’ is changed to ‘Amines,’ and topics like ‘Cyanides and Isocyanides’ are removed from it. 
  • Topics added in Unit – 15: Polymers, Classification -synthetic and natural method and method of Polymerization.

Practical

The following practicals have been removed:

  1. Study of the presence of suspended particulate matter in the air at two widely different sites.
  2. Study of the effect of different temperatures on the activity of salivary amylase.

Now the total number of practicals will be 60.

Class 12 Physics – [Syllabus Changes]

No changes in the theory syllabus.

Practical

The practicals have been removed:

  1. To ascertain the wavelength of a laser beam by diffraction.
  2. To apprehend the principle of OR, AND, and NOT gates and to make their equivalent circuits utilizing a bell and cells or battery and key or switches.

The number of practicals increased to 6 from 5.

Class 11 Physics – [Syllabus Changes]

Theory

No changes in the theory syllabus.

Practical

The number of practical experiments is reduced from 15 to 12.

Changes on CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2024–2025

Class 10 Science – [Syllabus Changes]

A new book was prescribed named ‘Assessment of Practical Skills.’

Class 10 Social Science – [Syllabus Changes]

No changes.

Class 10 English – [Syllabus Changes]

  • Points distribution of questions and some changes in adding and subtracting questions.
  • An additional book, ‘Words and Expressions’ has been prescribed. 

Class 10 Maths – [Syllabus Changes]

The CBSE Mathematics syllabus of class 10 has changed the marks distribution.
