Application of Derivatives – Introduction

In Chapter 5, we have learned how to find differentials of mixed-function, inverse trigonometric function, implicit function, exponential function, and logarithmic function. In this chapter, we will study applications derived in various subjects, for example, in Engineering, Science, Social Sciences, and many other fields. For example, we will learn how derivatives can be used (i) to determine the rate of change of quantities, (ii) to find the tangent of a curve at one point and equations of general, (iii) a graph of a function to find turning points that will, in turn, help us to locate those points, On which the largest or smallest value of a function (locally) is. We will also use derivatives to find gaps at which a function is growing or decreasing. Finally, we use derivatives to find the estimated value of certain quantities.
